Windows Malware trying to infect Windows computers

A new Windows malware is currently trying to get its way into the wild through email as an attachment. The malware has been detected by Sophos as Mal/EncPk-AGK. Only Windows computers are affected by this Malware.

It affects the system by copying itself to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\svchost.exe and adds itself to the Windows registry HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

The malware masks itself as an attachment USPS Document.zip file. If you receive an email similar to this, don't open it! The email message normally contains a delivery failure notice from USPS.

If you believe that you've been infected by this malware, follow the instructions here to remove it.

And, don't forget to update your favourite Anti-virus to the latest version, including operating system updates, as well as disabling Java (if you can live without it).
