Fun with the Mac OS X’s built-in Screen capture tool
Mac OS X’s built-in screen capture tool has a variety of tricks you might find useful. Here are as follows:
To screenshot your whole screen, press:
COMMAND + SHIFT + 3
To screenshot just a part of the screen, press (the mouse cursor will change to a crosshair icon):
COMMAND + SHIFT + 4
To screenshot a specific window (even the pop-up icon that appears when your change the volume or the screen’s brightness!), press:
COMMAND + SHIFT + 4, then press SPACEBAR (the cursor will change to a camera icon)
To screenshot while locking horizontally or vertically, press:
COMMAND + SHIFT + 4, then press and hold SHIFT
To screenshot while the maintaining a perfect squared screenshot, press:
COMMAND + SHIFT + 4, then press and hold ALT
