Microsoft will soon reject old and insecure security certificates
Microsoft will be releasing an update to Windows that restricts the use of certificates with RSA keys less than 1024 bits in length. This includes certificates such as SSL, signing certificates, email certificates, and any other certificated validated by Windows Crypto API. You can read more about Microsoft’s security advisory here.
So, if you or your organisation is still using these keys, you may need to hold off on deploying this update, or better yet, update your certificates to more than 1024 bits.
