Repair/Replace Spring Icons on Your Dock
In some cases when upgrading Mac OS X from Snow Leopard (10.6.x) to Lion (10.7), the spring icons at the right side of the Dock are lost, though hyperlinks will still work in the absence of the icon. This issue normally happens on computers/user accounts managed in Open Directory.
The fix is very simple. Just replace or copy the icon back to its intended location.

- Download the spring icons here (courtesy of iconizer.com).
- Create a new png file named "url.png".
- Copy the png image to this location /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources
- Open Terminal and set the permission by invoking the command sudo chown root:wheel /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources/url.png
- Restart the Dock sudo killall -KILL Dock
