How to get rid of the Alias Arrow Icon Badge in Mac OS X

Ever thought of removing the alias arrow icon badge in Mac OS X? Here's how:


  1. Go to Finder menu (Go > Go to Folder...)
  2. Type /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
  3. Locate and rename the file AliasBadgeIcon.icns to any name you like
  4. Enter your admin username and password to confirm
  5. Restart Finder by going to Terminal and enter the command sudo killall -KILL Finder
  6. Enter your admin password to confirm
  7. Walaah! arrow badge gone.
